Default v5 update m$ beta help - 08-08-2004, 18:45 | posts: 2,605

dammit, i went to it and it automatically installed v5 for me, now when i go it always goes to v5.

v5 is gay because it makes you have all these crappy services like automatic updates which is gay.

i have been trying to unistall it but i can't find it.

is there a way to go back to v4?

I get the impression that if you did manage to revert it to v4, as soon as you visited the v4 site, it would update it to v5 again.

But you don't need Automatic Updates on in order to use Windows Update, as I have it switched off (try disabling it in services.msc).

How did you go back to ver. 4? After scanning my pc ver. 5 site said 'CD key not found' or something similar and stopped me from updating. Also installing SP2 will take you to ver. 5. Then how do you download future updates and patches?

To uninstall v5, go to (drive letter):windows\downloaded program files

Right click the file called WUWebControl Class, and select Remove.

However, you'll be prompted to install it again, because soon v4 will be history anyways for XP.
