Anyone know what is the best/Safest speed to run the Legendary amd k6-2 500 at?<BR>currently running at 525 on a gigabyte ga-5aa Mobo with 160 MB SDRAM (pc100 & 133) ge-force 2 mx viddy<BR>Just wanna know ( i got a spare in case it f*&ks up anyway)<P>J<P>

Have you tried 6x100MHz ? (Setting the clock multiplier to 2x will be interpreted as 6x by the cpu)<P>A friend of me has a K6-2 450 and oc'd it to a stable 600MHz. (Ok, he's a BIG fan, but why not?)<p>[This message has been edited by Kennung Eins (edited October 29, 2000).]

Without a GREAT fan, that processor will not exceed 550 MHz; however, 550 MHz (5.5*100) is reachable: lap your cooler and your processor and use a better thermal compound (Arctic Silver is the best). If it works, try 5*112=560 MHz, quite faster due to increased FSB speed).<P>Miki

maximum amdk6-2 500 can only be overclock at 550 mhz only.<P>use 5.5x100=550 mhz<BR> cpu voltage=2.4<P>very stable <P>good luck,<BR>pogpog
