c1:Hey there gamers I just saw that the 900 series came out without much difference in performance per say but a decent price point and better chipset with lower power usage. My question that's displayed in the title should I even think of upgrading for 1gb more vram and about maybe 20% more performance with OC?. I do plan on going gsync 1440p in the future but the near future, actually was planning on a 27 inch Asus 1080p monitor to replace my current 23 inch. A side question as well should I worry about my 5 year old 750w corsair power supply If I do upgrade. thanks for any help you can give:infinity:.
Tbh if i had a 780 with 3Gb or 6Gb of ram i would just grab another one and wait for a more worthwhile upgrade as 3Gb is still ok but 2Gb is abit crap sometimes. Up to you....
True but with my board both the 780's would be cramped and I would ned to upgrade my PSU anyways. Plus I like single cards : ).
That's true I've been reading more about it and I'll pass on the 900 series until I see the 20nm or the 16nm also really hate they went from 384bit to 256nit for the mem. : /
Seen a guy at another forum with 4 Titans upgrade to 4 980s a while ago. Had a pic up of his 4 Evga 980 SCs ready to be unboxed.
If you ever wanted sli on your current psu 980 970 is where its at tdp wise. Thumbs up to nvidia for the decent pricing for a change. Its like the 8800gt way back.
I don't know about 1440p but the last benchie I looked at, 780 Ti's were spanking 980's at 4K. Even the regular 780 was outperforming the 980. 1080p is a totally different story though.
Yeah I've seen that bench and others too. Personally, I don't really care. I'd rather game at 1080p @ 120/144Hz than 4K @ 60Hz.
lol Yeah I've been reading a lot of threads and even though the 980 is nice the rumored 980ti looks to be going to GM200 but still going to the 28nm route, hopefully the 384bit rings true though with 6gbs of ram. But with Nvidia behind this I hope it's not Ridiculously priced where they asked 1000$.
I'm considering a 2nd 780, hard to find one with the reference cooler these days (at a low price). Scan have a Zotac one with the big ugly orange fans for £227
Yeah they may be abit ugly, but they're not once you see them in real I have that one and its very cool and quiet, also OC's nice.
http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Pro...Id=1&name=GeForce GTX 780&SpeTabStoreType=270 some reference coolers here, Though they are refurbs.
