Yes it does, just move the mouse to the window logo then press right mouse then it will show.

Also love the wallpaper to Metro. Windows 8.1 looks & run better [IMG]

I can certainly agree to that!

I also set to make the Apps view as my default Start Menu and that the Desktop apps are listed first and the Metro ones last.

I went to try an old game out in 8.1 and window 8.1 came up saying it needed to install directplay? it wasnt the game installer saying this. it was the same windows that comes up for net 3.5.

what is this directplay? it never popped up before with 8 or windows 7

only info I can find it related to directx 8.1 network. so now windows 8.1 has it?

    1. It should. Worse case is you'd have to re-activate your key again to get WMC back.

    2. yes.

There are a lot of apps that are not working properly with the RTM version of 8.1 I have ran into a few issues already.

Think I'll wait for official links. Not in a hurry to install it just yet.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not that difficult nor is it as bad as some people claim. I hated Windows 8 at first, but I was willing to give it a chance. It took me a couple weeks or so to learn all the short cuts and the ins and outs. The Metro interface took another week or so to get use to. But now that I've had a few months with it. I wouldn't go back to Windows 7 for nothing.

My advice is try it. Worse case is you waste a few hours messing around with it. :nerd:

when you upgrade you'll have the windows.old folder there. You can keep it for a while in case you need to pull some files from it or you can delete it if you feel all you apps are running ok.

this is why they should release it to subscribers.

so apps that are not updated by microsoft can get fixed before it goes fully public.

There are 2 versions out there right now for download claiming to be 8.1 RTM.

The real one that got leaked earlier is actually chinese and the other one is the modified version of that which is not official so its probably buggy.

Best is to wait till microsoft releases the final version for users.

The one by WZT is the one you want. It's an untouched Microsoft ISO.

Is the RTM version, the final build and the one that will be released to the public in October then? I will probably wait anyway as I want to upgrade to Windows 8.1, the so-called 'in-place upgrade', without having to reinstall any of my applications or hundreds of games again as I only installed Windows 8 Pro on my new Haswell build in June. I don't fancy doing all that again; it's why I chose not to try the beta/preview version when it was released.
