So currently I have an Nvidia 550ti and I would like to replace that with a Gigabyte 2GB AMD R7790 OC PCI-E Graphics Card. I have looked at reviews and unboxings and some people are saying that it wouldn't work with dual VGA monitors. It has HDMI * 1,DVI-I * 1, DVI-D * 1 and DisplayPort. I have dual 1080p VGA monitors and I would like to keep them. Is it true about it not working if I got DVI to VGA adapters? Any help would be appreciated and if you have any questions I would happily answer them.
yes and no. As only DVI-I got analog, you can only connect one VGA with a passive adapter. But you can buy a active adapter/converter to convert HDMI or DVI-D to VGA, just it is not a good solutions and it is not cheap. http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx
Just curious, why a 7790? For about the same price you can get a Nvidia 650 TI Boost that performs much better than the 7790....
What do you mean by VGA monitors? VGA is a resolution, which certainly isn't 1080P. Do you mean dual CRT 1080P monitors that don't have digital inputs? (only VGA input). In this sense the VGA is referring to the cable/plug type, not the resolution.
He mean D-SUB which was in past usually referenced as VGA port, since it was only port available on VGA card
