    really I am confused between sapphire r9 290x or sapphire r9 290
    who is better r9 290x or r9 290

    Is there a difference between r9 290x and r9 290???

    R9 290 Vapor-X
    The 290 is essentially a 290x with some stream processors disabled and a slightly lower core clock. See the details here:

    Based on the MSRP price, the 290 is probably one of the best bang-for-your-buck cards out there. BTC/LTC mining has really thrown a wrench into actual street prices for the last 6 months, at least in the US.

    This is similar to the difference between the 7970 and the 7950, just using the newer naming scheme.

    That makes no sense at all and would cost way more then i assume the OP would like to spend.R9 290 is a slightly slower/Cut down 290x but way cheaper great bang for buck card depending on Country.

    Don't think you can go wrong with either. The 290 is better value for the price, but if you want the extra performance and are prepared to pay for it the 290X is a great card too.
