Default Asus gtx 480 sli - 07-21-2012, 18:01 | posts: 592 | Location: BRISTOL uk

Hi

I just saw 2 gtx 480's for £100 each. I couldn't resist them at that price and got them for my second machine to run in SLI.
These are the ASUS Voltage Tweak cards which apparently run 5 degrees cooler or if you overclock them with the software they provide they run the same as stock referance, around 94 degrees. This is way to hot for me so I will use afterburner to create a better(but louder)fan profile.
Does anyone know what the fans are clamped to at max. My 580's won't go higher than 85% in afterburner. I am hoping I will have more leeway with the 480's like I have with my 280's which can be set at 100% if needed.

edit. Seems you can run fans at 100% but I will need good headphones to hear the games.

My 580s have 100% fan speed. I had them on 85% until I flashed them

I decreased my fan speed from 80% to 60% due to the noise...

Unfortunately the 4 & 5 series Nvidia Gpu's run hot & noisy unless your using a custom cooler...

My480 runs hot, my 580s run much cooler on the stock hsf. About 15c cooler than my 480 stock hsf
