    Couple new videos up

    Mustang Commercial,

New trailer, This one was originally fan made but CiG liked it so much they reworked it with the author to make it the new official trailer 2.0 for the game

They were also selling 200 Idris-P's today

So i melted some stuff and picked another Idris up for my Org.

Also if anyone is still looking for an org we are still doing open recruiting

Since the latest patch relative mode (for mouse) has improved to a point where it should be the default flying mode for mouse. It works so well in ships that have only fixed guns or mix of fixed and gimballed guns.

So, I'm looking to get into the game but have a few questions:

If I buy one ship to get into the game, and if I want another ship, will I also have to buy it. No way to get new ships without spending money?

What about subscritions? Will the exist only while the game is being developed? Do I gain acess to new stuff by just buying the ship or is new stuff only for those subscribed?

The ship/package you buy determines your starting ship(s). You don't have to buy *any* ship beyond the basic pledge package, it just enables you to start the Persistant Universe with a more tailored ship and ambition. Anything else you can attain in game through gameplay alone.

If you want to start playing right away, there are inevitably advantages to having a role specific ship for use in Arena Commander (IE a specific Racing or Dogfight ship) but that's about it. To participate in the alpha module testing there is now a $5 fee per module, which didn't apply to people who bought packages early in crowdfunding.

Even the basic package with alpha test works out at something like $40; personally now there are more ships available I'd be tempted to look at other options but it's really down to what you want and when. Most crucially, you can "melt" pledges and change; so you could pledge now for the basic with Aurora and at a later date perhaps test another ship and decide to start the game with that.

edit: Re: subscriptions there *is* an option available but it's not really related to the game; they have various other perks like in hanger flair, discount vouchers, access to Jump Point Magazine etc. No subscription or microtransactions will be required to play.

Anyway, jump in; the water's fine :)

So this game will later have a subscription you pay per month to play when it's finished?

    No. (4char)

Subscription wouldn't make sense considering that you can play it offline if you want to.

its also worth mentioning that it does not matter what ship you buy first because you can melt it back into store credit and use that to buy a more expensive package if you choose to want a better starting ship.

you are never locked into a package until the game hits release or shortly before so you can just keep swapping between packages until you find the one you like.
