What could cause a camera to do this? -

girlfriend was using it earlier and it was fine, I have a few photos from earlier in the day and its not distorted at any level as that, any ideas?
also, the camera screen is showing everything in a pink hue.
edit: it's a general electric (GE), model unknown, 2010/11 model

Faulty sensor? Also if the screen is messed up, maybe the camera took a hit or got wet?

Yep. That's a bad sensor alright.
Usually get that from water damage that kind of smudgy effect.
The lines are from just failing electronics.
