Not sure I would really overspend on a 1150 socket motherboard as the OC potential of Haswell seems to be a bit low on average. An ASUS HERO or Z87-PRO would be good choices feature rich and under $200 in the states not sure about across the pond.

MSI GD-65 Gaming (my board) is excellent.

It wants to run my 4770K faster than stocks. At stock settings it still pushes the chip to its 3.9GHz max turbo boost all the time. It just wants to go further.

Also going by TTL's video on youtube, the MSI military class boards have the lowest RMA rate out of all the vendors.

My Asus Z87 Plus does the same thing. It's always at 3.9 but boosts to 4.2 at stock settings.
So far it seems to be a pretty good board and wasn't too expensive.

I would go with EVGA as Asus RMA service is terrible here in the UK. They do make good motherboards though. Tbh there all the same unless your on PC on LN. They only differ when you approach the maximum threshold of the boards capability.

I'd give Gigabyte a miss at the moment. My current X79 board (similar to the newer Z77 and Z87 boards), isn't great for OCing, TBH, despite being a workstation board. My old ASUS WS X58 board was great this one, not so much.

+1 for Asus. The ROG boards are top notch. I went with a Z87 Sabertooth for my Intel rig because of the (supposed) extra cooling features and the back plate for extra support, (My Lightning GTX 780 weighs a ton) and a 5yr warranty. I'm not an Asus fanboy. At least I won't admit it on this forum. But I've only used Asus because I've never had a problem with their mobo's.

There's a huge variety of boards (from all manufactures) out there. Decide what features you can't live without and do some research.

I love my Asus Maximus VI Hero! Haven't had any issues with it, offers a lot of features, great performance and comes at a good price. Asus has always been my first choice (Well, except when Abit was still around and even then is was a toss up.) and EVGA would be my next choice.

That's the board I have on my list when I hopefully upgrade my system by the end of the month. BTW, how's the soundboard? They say is good.

I also had an Abit board, those were good, back in the day.
