Default Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced USB 3.0 version - 06-16-2012, 19:27 | posts: 126 | Location: Slovenia

Hello!

I want to know if the SATA HDD/SSD dock on the top of the chassis (Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced USB 3.0 version) is by default connected with SATA 3Gb/s or 6Gb/s cable. I have already looked on the official site but there is no information which cable is used? I am asking because I already have the chassis and I was wondering to which SATA port should I connect the cable (3Gb/s or 6Gb/s). By the way I have ASUS Sabertooth Z77 motherboard. If the cable is by default 3Gb/s, can I exchange it with 6Gb/s cable that came with the motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth Z77)?

I'm 90% sure that it is limited to SATA2.

But just to be sure, why don't you post the question here to get an answer from CM support:

The cable doesn't really affect the performance too much, I plugged a SATA II cable to a SATA III slot and compared that with a SATA III cable to a SATA III slot, they performed about the same, obviously a native cable would be better.

No these cables are fixed to the eSATA/HDD dock, you cannot replace them, I have the original version of the CM690 II Advanced.

It actually depends on where you plug them in to your motherboard I believe

There is no difference in sata cables performance, unless it was of sub-standard manufacture. So any properly working sata cable will work just the same in Sata 2 or 3.
