I love it how people are so negative towards windows yet they still use it as their main daily OS.

You can hate something but realize it's still the best option out there.

Because of a lack of alternatives, yes. ;)

To be fair there are some pretty good alternatives.... it's just that those alternatives are also Windows xD

the sad things is that windows is rooting so deep
that pc enviroment for most user are windows-based software

say if that equal enviroment like googleplay vs apple apps store
    that would be different story...

os like osx or ubuntu can be used like windows, but still there bunch of software that not available outside windows os that make no option...

How does this compare to a system restore? Is this actually reinstalling Windows from scratch over itself?

Most likely yes. Resets windows without deleting data directories like "Documents" or other custom ones on the drive. It does delete everything else which is "installed"

Very similar to using 2 partitions, one for windows, one for everything else, and reinstalling windows every time it feels rotten.
(Used to do that with XP quite a lot... but W7 lasted for years without reinstalls)

@slyphnier problem is that windows, linux, mac, google have their users, but now microsoft want to be like apple and force their users to change whole os for apple-like

if someone want apple-like os then would buy it from apple ...

More features are always welcome. Creator's Update is shaping very well feature wise. Nice to see Windows 10 keeps improving.

Do you even know what happens when you switch the main user account on a Mac? I think only the newer ipads are worse when it comes to what license your going to lose when switching user.
MS doesn't do that, what ships with Windows is what you get even if you switch user because you bought a used system, same as various Linux distributions and what Google offers.
I wouldn't call Windows 10 to be Mac OS alike or any other OS that isn't Windows for that sake.

Dunno about Mac or switching users thing.

What I do know re: ipad is I have 3 of them here, all on same account, all can use any piece of software I've bought without buying again. Infact, space-providing, any app I get on one ipad will be automatically deployed on the other 2.

The only app that breaks this model that I know of atm is Mario Run.

I run Win 10 on my main rig, HTPC, Step sons pc, Server.
I didnt update gfs pc to win 10 because of th IGP. HD 4200. It still runs Win 7. Phenom X4 9950, 4GB DDR2 667, HD 4200. Shes happy. She does not play any games at all.

Id have it on my netbook but it only has 32GB EMC hard drive. I run a ultra slim version of Win 7 on it.

There are plenty of instances that refresh did not correct what went wrong. So this is a lousy move to make it more accessible. Programs and apps will still need to be reinstalled. Look at refresh more like putting clean underwear on over the old; just gives the appearances of being clean.

I run CloudReady on a laptop as my primary OS at home now. I rarely touch my desktop, unless there's something I absolutely have to use Windows for.

Depending on usage Ubuntu, ChromeOS, CloudReady, RemixOS, OpenSuSE and Fedora all make for very good alternatives to Windows.
