spec is below. Most of the videos run fine, some of them will just have a black screen though, while the audio is playing fine. I tried re-installing Flash etc, messed with gpu acceleration but some of the videos still won't play. This started happening a few days ago, not sure if it coincided with a chrome update or not.

Have you checked whether those failure videos are HTML5 or Flashvideo?

You disabled hardware acceleration inside of flash player settings ?

I have had this once (green screen) with a video driver years ago. installing a newer or older one (cant remember exactly) fixed it.

Disabling Hardware Acceleration solved the similar issues I had.

You can experiment with flags - go to chrome://flags

right, fixed. it was the hardware acceleration you have to disable in chrome settings, not through flags. Everything fine now. it was "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I had the same issue, but fixed it the opposite way. I turned off the hardware acceleration, turning it back on breaks videos again. But because I found this I fixed my problem. Thank you.
