Power and Progressive Metal - I like most kinds of Metal, but those would be my favorites. I also enjoy a large variety of other types of music, but if I could only have one type from here on out, that's it.
Mostly Blues (Etta James, SunnyBoy Williamson, Robert Nighthawk, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters...) Then of course Blues based Rock. Followed by a chaser of Jazz (The Crusaders, Monk, Coltrane, Cannonball...) Classical when the mood hits (Massenet, Smetana, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff...) Just depends on the mood and what I'm doing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjPau5QYtYs Joking aside, I like pretty much everything outside of modern rap (although some is decent), as well as country and western.
Quite broad really, generally everything under the envelope of "guitar music", with a few exceptions. I hate anything "-core" with screamy/whiny vocals and what the djent scene has become since it got hijacked by the same asshats. On the flip side I love prog and black metal most of all.
Northern Soul. It just runs through my veins, was a regular at Wigan Casino in the 70s got voted the best night club in the world. If you have never heard of it watch some videos on youtube.
Same here, love me some great drum n bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzHa1ogS1P4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBKuZsPCSbE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL71Ag91UF4
Heavy / Progressive Metal Love distorted guitars mixed with great singers. Other metal stuff sounds like garbage to me. I'm also into movie soundtracks but only in analog form. Any pure digital music is lifeless imo because human musicians don't play perfectly at all times. I think this is what gives analog music its special 'breathing' character.
All of it except one type of Rap, can't stand modern gangster crap. I think if you were a kid growing up in the 70s to 90s you got exposure to many types of music, so for me classical to the heaviest of metal and everything in between I can find music that I will like.
Mostly trance (uplifting & progressive) and classical & orchestral music. I'm open to other genres too - as long as it sounds great and has a nice melody. Rap and most modern pop songs are just garbage.
death, black, prog, thrash metal - in that order. then psy trance, electro, d&b i also really like classical & baroque music. bebop jazz is up there too, but i have to be in the mood for it currently listening to aeon - sacrificed as i write weeeeeeeeee i sure could - but then again, i can be very verbose, am introspective by nature, & also overanalyze everything anyway anyway i like death metal simply cos i have screws loose & it helps me unwind hehehe. regular folks commonly find it stressful, but to me its quite the opposite - i find it cathartic. i imagine this is partly since i play guitar & do vox as well; both are more physically strenuous than youd think when you really give it your all i have a soft spot for techno from going to underground raves as a teen (no...i didnt do ecstasy, that crap will put holes in your brain ). lots of fun around that scene, it gives me nostalgia big time. plus its so fun to zone out playing vidya with old infected mushroom pounding through your speakers...
Progressive house, progressive tech house and electronica aka chemical brothers and a like.. with a little bit of techno and chillout on top. My fav year was early 2000 - 2005.. lately not so much, but there are still some new gems here and there.
