it sounds like that. but not as loud but still headache inducing. the psu is a cooler master 600w silent pro.

i have had it for a year almost and it has been doing this sound for about a week now. i cleaned it out a few days before it started making this sound.

i was looking to replace my video card for doing another noise that was also very annoying but i might just replace this psu instead. if i have to any recomdenations for a new psu? i want to keep it under 120 dollars.

Could be load on your capacitors, could be a sign that it's about to go.

Couldn't you send it in for RMA?

Most power supplies will be fine. Everyone seems to have a preference for what they use.

I've used 3 brands that I can recommend.

I've had many FSP psu's and never any issues, from cheap to high end.

    A Kingwin that worked flawlessly.

I just added a Seasonic last year. After I added the Seasonic I got capacitor whine on my gtx570. Chance are good it was just something I noticed after I installed the new psu because the 5 series were notorious for whine.

Then again I've seen many people get $30 no name psu's and they last for years also. Seen a couple of the fans go out on these, and they do make a lot more noise but they worked.

At the end of the day, whatever you decide, I'm sure it will work fine.
