Has anyone tried to patch a Radeon HD 5870 (mobility or desktop model) into a firepro 8700 as there is no firepro yet for the RV840 chip?

I think that the patches will be an option after ati release the fire pro cards and drivers.
Hopefully the 5xxx series will be modable.

I have tried the last to patch scripts but found the 4870 is not modding properly, my 2900 is modding very well.

I am getting a sea of little traingles around the parts in SW, it goes away with redraw command but still its not a good sign.

Just thought would update on that. any suggestions appreciated.

Did you take gellmar or schoko script? I don't think the problem is related to the patchscript, maybe the driver version does not work properly with SW or vice versa.. I'm using the newest schoko script and no problems with CATIA (also newest version), maybe I could test Solid Works 2008 as we have it on another Workstation but I'm not at work for the next few weeks.. You could also check the driver changelogs to see if there are known problems or if they are fixed in the newest driver version (no patchscript yet )..

v8800 = 5870
v7800 = 5850
v5800 = 5770
v4800 = 5670
v3800 = 5570

I don't think any cards are based on the 5750. smile_gerard supposedly got mobility 5870 modded here (the post mite be one or two pages before than in the link) I'm waiting for more success stores till I get a 5xxx though.

Edit: Thinking about it some more it mite be possible to patch it as a v5800. The 5750 is almost the same as the 5770, it just has some stream processors cut off.

I know this is something different than what people wants to achieve here, but, its possible to install a FirePro driver on a 6870? I just want this because it seems that OpenGL version of FireGL doest give problems with modeling tools such as Modo.

Gaming Drivers causes hangs and crashes while FireGL people doesnt have any problems, Modo doesnt benefit from FireGL or Quadro.
