Default Small Office Network Connection Times Out - 06-06-2012, 16:41 | posts: 1

I am on a small office network, we have about 5 servers with drives mapped to about 10 users. The Internet works fine all the time on my computer. but every day I come in to the office I am disconnected to the mapped network drives. it seems to time out at around 10 hours. (at least daily - less than 24). I understand networking well but not expert. I cannot figure why the server/servers are restricting access like that. My computer is a recent (but not the most) addition to the network and seems to be the only one with this issue.

Are you sure it's disconnected, and not just showing the X?

Also, look up "Default timeout period" for network drives. I believe it's a registry setting.

Does double clicking the mapped drive 'reconnect' it?

When it doesn't work - can you ping the server at that point?
