Intel and Nvidia are burying the hatchet and put away their differences and ongoing lawsuit and have settled for a $1.5 billion, six year cross-licensing agreement between the rival chipmakers. The... Intel will pay $1.5 billion in Nvidia settlement
After reading the agreement ( http://download.intel.com/pressroom/legal/Intel_Nvidia_2011_Redacted.pdf ), it seems like it gives right for NV to make x86 components as long as you can't use them together with Intel Core CPUs.
This is a great deal for Nvidia, not only they are getting the money they get to make some new chips whit cross license with Intel they may be able to make some new monsters and Intel will get something from this (better support for Nvdia on Intel platform).
So yeah this happened and was reported on in 2011. No idea why its on the frong page of Intel's news. Plus they don't get X86 with the cross deal.
Looks like the page hasn't been updated in a while. There's still a posting on Intel's news page about the case with the FTC from 2010.
1.5 billion! that's not to be sniffed at... p.s you wonder about how much they have spent on lawyers fees though..
Yeah this ones on me, someone posted it and I reposted it without checking the dates. Although I never read the agreement properly until now http://download.intel.com/pressroom/legal/Intel_Nvidia_2011_Redacted.pdf
