    ForceWareUltra BETA

    Under development: 2.0.1
    Latest installer version: 1.2.4 (outdated)
    Latest driver set (x86): 84.66
    Latest driver set (x64): 84.56

Note: ForceWareUltra 1.2.x only works on 2000/XP. Vista support will be included in the upcoming release.

    Driver sets (32-bit)
    Driver sets (64-bit)
Note: The number in the paranthesis is the installer version used for that set.

    Problems while installing?
If you get "Device could not be found"-error or similar, try to install original drivers, and the run the installation. When asked to clean-up, skip it! The clean-up doesn't seem to work correctly on every machine... I've added numerous fixes to the latest version but if you still get this problem please contact me on MSN - marcus@ekwall.nu.

Problems with Sedona showing up empty
This is not my fault. This is NVIDIA releasing different versions of the new control panel that aren't compatible with each other. To be sure to make the new control panel functional you need to uninstall anything that uses the Sedona control panel (such as nTune and nForce drivers may install it as well).

Tweak and driver highlights for latest release
    • NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder (for cards that support it, 6th generation or later)
    • Pixel/vertex shader control optimizations (improves high-end pixel shading performance)
    • VMR (Video Mixing Renderer) is enabled by default
    • VDS (Virtual DMA Support) is enabled by default
    • OpenGL/D3D texture precache is enabled by default
    • AMD Dual Core and Intel Hyperthreading optimizations
    • VSync and TV/HD-out support for SLI-rigs
    • Usability enhancements when connecting to an HDTV
    • Optional to install new NVIDIA control panel (Sedona)
    • Optional to install Direct Access Panel
    • Optional to install Media Center Tray
    • Optional to install Driver Helper Service
    • And alot more...
    Installer features
    • Standalone installer - no wrapper for the bloaty InstallShield setup
    • Super small size - only ~9MB (~13.5MB with Sedona) by using state-of-the-art compression
    • Only compability modifications made to the .inf - no tweaks
    • Added support for nearly all NVIDIA cards
    • Choose between Quality, Balanced and Performance tweak profiles
    • Install 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation CoolBits
    • Get more contrast and saturation with Vivid Colors tweak
    • Full driver clean-up - even superior to DC Pro
    • Apply fixes through the installer if you have problems
    • Download and install third party applications
    Planned features
    • Support for NVIDIA Mobile GPUs
    • Apply tweaks without reinstalling
    • Part drivers, tweaks and installer - download latest driver and tweak sets inside the installer

    • Added: Some new tweaks and removed some unused ones
    • Added: New tweak profile: Balanced (Recommended)

    • Fixed: Moved Direct Access panel (nvmccs.dll) from default driver install to optional installer component (under driver fixes)
    What is Sedona?
Sedona is the codename for the new NVIDIA Control Panel. It's a module based control panel that works a bit like the Microsoft Management Console. It's still under heavy development and still contains alot of bugs. For example, the latest nTune (which also uses Sedona) will not be compatible with the Sedona being shipped with the drivers. Don't fret, even if you choose to install the new control panel, you'll be able to switch back to the classic one without reinstalling.

    About the drivers
No tweaks have been added to the .inf-file itself, only compatibility for more cards and resolutions. The tweaks are added by the installer during the installation. Nearly all NVIDIA cards are supported (there might be some problems with earlier generations, but it doesn't hurt to try!). Mobile GPUs are still not supported, but will be added at a later stage.

    What's with the Ultra?
The idea behind these drivers are to create a small sized driver set that will attract users that want either performance and/or improved quality. It will leave it's beta stage when the major bugs are squashed to enter the release candidate stage. The name ForceWareUltra is just a placeholder for now, it might change, it might not. Though I am getting quite fond of the name, I might hold on to it. As I am still looking for people that can improve the installer (add more tweaks and fixes), don't hesitate in contacting me.

    Guru3D - Home sweet home!
These drivers will have their home here, and can be discussed here. I will try tro release new driver sets as soon as they've been released by NVIDIA. So you'll see some fast releases!

    Beta installer - Disclaimer
This installer is in beta, so there might be bugs. I don't take any responsibility for what might happen to you or your computer by using it. You may wonder why I don't wait to release until it's stable. The answer is simple; I need your help to be able to make it stable. Since I'm no super mega corporation like NVIDIA with nearly unlimited funds I don't have the insane range of hardware to test on. So if you want to help me beta test, you're welcome to play the part as Guinea Pig!

    Best regards,

    Menion

I dont know why it is, but when i play Dreamfall, only Dreamfall, this often goes to BSOD and says nv_disp is causing an error. This experienced only with Ultra set of drivers prior to 84.56. This set i dont try, because i have bad feeling of it. I try NGO 84.56 set and everything goes fine. Any suggestions?
Sorry for my english, its no my native lang.

I'll be leaving in about 20 days for summer work. I'll be gone for three months or more, depends really... During this time I won't be able to access internet, so I can't update with any upcoming driver sets.

During this time it would be nice to have someone else to update the driver sets for me ;) It's not that hard! So if anyone would be intrested just contact me, and I can teach you how to do it.

    Regards,

    Menion

I am working on a new driver set (84.66) and a new installer (1.2.2).

The new driver set will include the new control panel (Sedona) and the new installer will hopefully address some of the problems that people are having right now (device could not be found etc.).

EDIT: Well, I've released it now ;)

    Regards,

    Menion

Would you please add cards that are not included in the original forceware release? It's a real hassle to install your modified drivers since you did not used a common exe or archiving program.

You can use this thread to add the cards to the list. Thanks
    http://forums.guru3d.com//showthread.php?t=171843

Also, please re-release your previous versions with the better card support list. Thanks.

I've already added card support, it's been there from the first release. The problem with the "device could not be found" has nothing to do with that. It was a bug in the installer that messed up the device ID if the user didn't have a nForce-based motherboard.

Anyway, please re-check the list if you have more spare time. It would really help newbies looking for the best driver/s. Your mod could easily be in the top 2 or 3 based on the feedback alone.

I didn't look for specific cards lacking in your list. I just did a quick page down. Your list was 5 page downs, the other list is 7. :)
