Why does Intel insist on releasing a new series every year?

Moore's law is slowing down. That doesn't mean you have to go out and release products on the same time frame, if those products are going to be nothing new.

Why not, instead, use double the man-hours on research for more true advancementsby releasing a new series every 2 or even 3 years. I mean, I'm at 4 years on my 3570K, and still don't feel like anything is worth upgrading to. So they might as well have not released anything new until Skylake.

These new non-revisions are likely wasting their time more than anything.

A, depends on what your doing with your rig. B, not everyone plans to upgrade every year. i know i wont do any change to my new one for at least 3-4y (besides gpu), so going with 6-8C will def be the smarter choice.
not talking about the fact games start to use +4 cores, just look at newer games like BF, running on all cores (58xx).

Hmm something interesting just surfaced from Murthy Renduchintala from Intel computing something or other, it almost seems as if Intel is throwing the towel in on the upcoming release of Zen for this go round unless I mis reading it.

What I found most notable was his statement "Our faith in 10 nm raising the bar for enthusiast PCs is why we see the threat presented by AMD’s Zen as being fairly manageable, with only short term disruption in 2017.
