Thats not cheating, thats a bug.

The point of cheating is that you don't notice it.

yeah because particle effects choke modern graphics cards....

The point of cheating is that you get better fps not that you don't notice it , lol , and that is no bug (they reduce the particle density in favor to fps) :bang:!

What moron starts a new thread here with this? Im not saying its true or not, but atleast when you compare with pictures make sure you have the exact same frame or it doesnt say jack ****. So close this thread, as it isnt even in the right place. Thank you.

this is pretty stupid. In case that nvidia users do not know, if you set in catalyst everything for high performance it will lower your image quality dramatically. Link with settings and better be from a trusty review site or it didn't happend. I cannot confirm that with my 5870 in crossfire.
If it's only dust in the eyes I suggest to turn this thread off.:3eyes:

A quick way to tell if it's a bug - Disable Cat AI and test again. Either way, more options is never a bad thing.

Regardless though, we don't know how the comparisons were made, so there's no way to tell if it's a fair comparison.

Sorry m8, i dont know which drivers it was on, but on my lowly 4870 i had sparks in that scene.
It was hard to make out but it was there.
I am working on vanilla latest drivers, with all settings in balanced (i didnt tweak a thing).

Did you use any dll tweak? I remember I used a DLL tweak in Fallout New Vegas (which claimed to have no impact in visual with better graphics due to the way the game perform differently) which change the detection of my card to Nvidia 8800 and I notice some visual difference (less fire particle) when looking at the fire. Maybe it is the DirectX path or coding the game developer implemented which think your card can't handle it and use a lesser shader model or DX path.

I had sparks too. The frames aren't even aligned.

Different frames, there's no reason to even reason about this thing.

And what about this other smoke in the scene? Why wasn't it reduced too? It seems even bigger on the radeon :

    @ OP

I had sparks in that scene, as I'm sure most of us did. Valid point is invalid. Please try harder next time.

What a stupid thread, you can see the ATI frame is after the explosion.

he is a bit right about, in ati its a bit different...even with the most latest and unreleased drivers...so it's a hardware difference, or amd, once again...lower quality...jesus...enough with that catalyst ai...even now, with new ai, high quality, and all max, it's cutting details...

    Does this game use PhysX?

EDIT : Found out it doesn't, I asked because if the sparks were interacting with the environment then that would be a reason for a cut.

I'd say this was a driver bug (or botched optimisation) as the overhead (as an earlier post sarcastically pointed out) isn't that great for particle effects.

source of the article about it with full explanation ? Cause i don't see the driver be able to change the quality mode from medium to high for effect as it's an ingame setting . And this can only be changed by the game .

i think that's the classic miracle of impressive effects...of nvidia...all the community and world knows the huge defference in some dx9 games...in shadows, effects, etc...ati has work to do...after that, i assure you many games have difference but i am bored counting them...i cant get it, we know we dont have physx, but less special effect also...??? jesus...that's too much...CCC must be banned...they need new driver's control...it sucks..!!
