As many of you have already seen these are the next generation AMD HD7000 series specs:

    - HD 7990 New Zealand GCN
    - HD 7970 Tahiti XT GCN 1000MHz 32CUs 2048ALUs 128TMUs 64ROPs 256bit XDR2 8.0Gbps 256GB/s 2GB 190W HP
    - HD 7950 Tahiti Pro GCN 900MHz 30CUs 1920ALUs 120TMUs 64ROPs 256bit XDR2 7.2Gbps 230GB/s 2GB 150W HP
    - HD 7870 Thames XT VLIW4 950MHz 24SIMDs 1536ALUs 96TMUs 32ROPs 256bit GDDR5 5.8Gbps 186GB/s 2GB 120W HPL
    - HD 7850 Thames Pro VLIW4 850MHz 22SIMDs 1408ALUs 88TMUs 32ROPs 256bit GDDR5 5.2Gbps 166GB/s 2GB 90W HPL
    - HD 7670 Lombok XT VLIW4 900MHz 12SIMDs 768ALUs 48TMUs 16ROPs 128bit GDDR5 5.0Gbps 80GB/s 1GB 60W HPL
    - HD 7570 Lombok Pro VLIW4 750MHz 12SIMDs 768ALUs 48TMUs 16ROPs 128bit GDDR5 4.0Gbps 64GB/s 1GB 50W HPL

I believe these generation will be a nice step forward in terms of performance per watt and the new architecture will have nice computing capabilities.
    What do you guys think?
Now we have to see what Nvidia has in store for 2012.
I hope I can upgrade to one of these babies with Rambus memory !!! :bat:

The 7950 looks like a good old best buy in the upper segment.
With OC getting beyond 7970 I guess.
We will see the price of the models with XDR2 architecture.

I hope its affordable. I would like a single card solution that will kick ass for a long time !
We still have to see what Nvidia has in store !

If these are true then I'll get a
    "HD 7850 Thames Pro VLIW4 850MHz 22SIMDs 1408ALUs 88TMUs 32ROPs 256bit GDDR5 5.2Gbps 166GB/s 2GB 90W HPL"

90w is very easy to cool quietly.

2GB is more then enough @ 1920x1200 with uber AA. Really. :)

    That's basically a 6950.

    ----

So a 7970 has 2048ALUs and those 32CUs are like by nv 580gtx 16streaming processors (openCL, etc)?

Btw Pokerapar88 where did you saw this?:nerd:

I agree. Appart from the low power consuption, some of these models will use water chamber for cooling as the sapphire's vapor-x funcion I have heard.

ah ok, lol i completely forgot about that leak xD

So do you know if these 32CUs are/have the same purpose as those 16sp by nv 580gtx, for openCL, direct compute, etc?.. heh i can't remember anymore :nerd:

Yea i saw that.. I guess its the only way to speed things up, that WLIV code was to buggy to begin with:nerd:

That's why i still think this 7970 will be one killer gpu, lol dare to say its even better then Kepler. Ok unless Kepler uses more then 32 stream processors - that's basically +1024cores..which i doubt. :D

so what does that mean? will the 7970 be at the same level of the gtx 590? ..at least? theoretically speaking

    Imo x1/2 more.

Kepler 1024? cores won't be the same as Fermi, ok it will use similar unified design but that's it. The rest should be similar to AMD's GCN functions but under different names, plus some extra nv stuff..

The big question is if they're gonna make a fully working 1024 core chip or is it gonna take the same path as 480gtx, with 1 cluster disabled xD

I'll never use two cards unless microstuttering is a thing of the past.

Why do they keep making the same ****ing cards?
All these cards looks like the same damn 6000 series with different names/replace the numbers.
If anyone wastes money on this crap when they come out, i feel bad for you.

Next 2 cards i am buying is a 6850 and a GX 550ti 2gb. Hell my 5750 can run any game out there just fine, why rush out and buy new tech if its the same old ***.

the ones on the high end are not the same cards.
the others might be a rebrand but they are die shrinks with increased performance per watt. they are good upgrades if they are cheaper than the ones they are replacing.
Now you can crossfire two 6950s or 6970s replacements with a much smaller power supply :), this also improves temperatures and overclocking possibilities.
