Notebook Samsung R525-jv05ru. Videocards: Mobility Radeon Hd4250(integrated) and Mobility Radeon Hd6630M(discrete). Discrete does not work in game Wolfenstein: The new order. The game uses only integrated videocard. I chose in Catalyst "high performance". I installed drivers: 11.2(black screen), 11.5(black screen), 11.10(black screen), 11.12(game works on integrated), 12.4(from site Samsung)(black screen), 12.11(black screen), 13.4(not working), 14.4(not working). BIOS(Phoenix 01PC) does not have a function to switch video cards. Help me! P.S. Sorry for my english
Hi, did you try any of the ones posted here? http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46 Also, make sure when you donwload from AMD, to select laptop cards, I have a problem once where I stupidly downloaded the desktop card and it really screwed things up. Give a try of this (i've not used this but it should be ok I hope) http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=390542
scatman839, hello. YEs I used the modified drivers from this forum. "Catalyst 14.6 RC2 Modded driver for switchable graphics menus fix" not support my HD4250
I think the hd4250 is the problem, it being legacy. Try this one http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=372799 Wolfenstein I think needed some updated openGL stuff, which would come with AMDs drivers, so if this one doesn't work then you might be out of luck (unless google can help you outside of me).
I remember that it was an issue with all notebooks with two videocards (and AMD one as the second card - dGPU) - all OpenGL games and applications did use only first videocard (which is integrated iGPU).
It's not anymore, mines definitely used the 7970m for wolfenstein, but I think it might have relied on the hd4000 to run it (check for openGL 4.whatever), which is at the very least compatible with the game. Sorry anton, but it might not work I guess, check google really, I can bet others have the same problem.
mbk1969, scatman839, thanks for the info about OpenGL! Find information about this problem. Needs to disable dynamic switching graphics cards in the BIOS. But my BIOS(Phoenix 01PC)(last update) does not have a function to switch video cards. Is there another way to switch?
When I did own notebook with switchable graphics guys at one of notebook geek forums managed to modify the BIOS so that switching from dynamic mode to fixed one became possible in BIOS. As I remember they succeeded namely in locating hidden setting in BIOS image and unhiding it. And after selecting the fixed switchable mode user can select in CCC which card should be primary (kinda). So you should seek for a BIOS mods for your notebook model.
mbk1969, I have not found a modified BIOS for my laptop. maybe I need to unlock the BIOS using a special program?
http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=448&threadid=172706&enterthread=y Check to see if any of those bios's are for your laptop
Take a look (not only for BIOS image but for instructions too) on http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/ http://forum.notebookreview.com/
Yes, I forgot what laptop you said you had and just provided the link. Don't use any of them, they're for other laptops.
I found a request for your notebook BIOS mod namely for hidden switchable graphics setting, but modders did not reply. If you will find tool for editing the BIOS and info on how to do that, you can try to unhide setting yourself. But you better have a service where you can repair notebook in case BIOS flashing made it unbootable. May be it is better to buy a notebook with only one powerful videocard. But I quit with notebooks. They are never powerful enough.
If it's just this one game I wouldn't risk modding your own BIOS for it. It's good, but not amazing, best get it on a console or something.
scatman839, There are even games that I have not played because of this problem. And I love Wolfenstein series of games and games from Starbreeze.
