Alright, in a few weeks I'm going to buy a laptop since my current computer is old and is on pieces on the floor making my closest unopenable. I was thinking Dell or Gateway since I've had 2 gateways and the 1st one from 1999 is still working like new and my current gateway (heavily upgraded) is still working, hardly. I have a few questions on parts of a laptop that I hope for people to answer: -Should I stick with a 5400 rpm HDD or upgrade to a 7200 rpm with less space? -Which video card is better: 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7300 TurboCache or 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory? (Dell says the nvidia) -Should I get the Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N or Intel PRO/Wireless 3945a/g? -Is it really worth it to upgrade warranties? (Mines currently at 2yr) My budget is $1500-$2000. Here's the Dell I've put together: E1505 Dual Core Inspiron E1505: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) KDM2HN [222-4673] 1 Operating System (Office software not included): FREE Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium with 1GB of memory VHP3EP [313-4910][420-5769][420-5924][420-6436][420-6481][463-2282][466-2383] 11 LCD Panel: 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™ 15SXGAS [320-4652] 2 Memory: 2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHZ, 2 DIMM 2G2D6 [311-5783] 3 Hard Drive: 120GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive 120GB [341-3316] 8 Combo or DVD+RW Drive: FREE 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability 8XDVDRP [420-6464][465-0930] 16 Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7300 TurboCache* 256NV73 [320-4810] 6 Sound Options: Integrated Audio IS [313-4217] 17 Network Card and Modem: Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem INTNIC [430-0493] 13 Adobe Software: Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 7.0 ADOBER [412-0917] 15 Miscellaneous: Award Winning Service, Support E1505D1 [465-1223] 82 Processor Branding: Intel Centrino Core Duo Processor ICNDNB [310-8314] 749 Labels: Windows Vista™ Premium VPN [310-8628] 750 Primary Battery: 85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery 9BAT [312-0403] 27 Wireless Networking Cards: Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N IP4965 [430-2286] 19 Office Software: Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2007 - Word, Excel + PowerPoint IVOFHS [420-6589] 22 Anti-Virus/Security Suite (Pre-installed): McAfee SecurityCenter with anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, 15-months VMCAF1Y [420-6591] 25 Dell Digital Entertainment: No Pre-Installed Software NODE [466-3921] 399 Warranty and Service: 2Yr Ltd Warranty and At-Home Service S2OS [412-0360][900-8221][902-1741][950-3338][960-2780][980-2870][985-3588][985-3599] 29 Dell On Call: Dell On Call, 30day, Getting started Assistance, unlimited incidents DOCPOS3 [983-0299] 30 Internet Access Service: 6 Months America Online Internet Access Included AOLDHS [412-0933][412-0934][412-0935] 37 Here's the Gateway I configured too: Gateway® NX570XL $1,871.97 Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.00GHz, 667MHz FSB, 4MB L2 Cache) .........[$171.00] Operating System: Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium (32-bit) Memory: 2048MB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2-1024MB modules) Hard Drive: 100GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive .........[$81.00] Display: 15.4" WSXGA+ TFT Active Matrix (1400 x 1050 max. resolution) (requires Intel 802.11a/ b/ g/ Draft-N wireless) .........[$100.00] Optical Drive: 8x Multi-Format Double Layer DVD Writer (DVD±R/±RW/CD-RW) Wireless Network: Integrated Intel® 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N Wireless Networking (for Genuine Windows® Vista™) Adapter: 90 Watt AC Adapter Application Software: Microsoft® Office Home & Student Edition 2007 (includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint) .........[$149.99] Backup Media: Cyberlink Power2Go (Download only) Battery: Primary 8-Cell Lithium Ion Battery w/ 1 Yr. limited battery warranty .........[$20.00] Bluetooth: Bluetooth Wireless Networking Module Cables: Intel WLAN to Bluetooth Cabling Chassis: Chassis w/ ATI Mobility" Radeon® 128MB Graphics, 945PM Chipset (Brushed Tungsten) Operating System Backup Media: Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium Media (32-bit) Security Software: No McAfee® Security Subscription Selected (for Genuine Windows® Vista™) Software Documentation: End User License Agreement for Non-Microsoft Software Warranty: Notebook Value Service Plan -- 3 year parts/ labor/ no on-site/ 3 year technical support .........[$149.99] For the gateway it isn't really specific about the video card and the video card is probably the most important component in my eyes. Wow, I was looking at the laptops on newegg after I went to your link and found http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834220124 That's like the perfect laptop I'm looking for... My only concerns are the warranty and battery life. What kind of warranty do you get with an Asus?

I'm getting a new one tomorrow, not sure if it's precisely what you're looking for though: HP Pavilion dv9220us Notebook Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5200, 1.6GHz with Centrino Technology, 2GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, GeForce Go 7600, 17-inch WXGA+ TFT Display, 8X DVD+/RW Drive, Windows Vista Home Premium $1,399.99 *shrugs*
Ah, nice - good thing the coupon was there. It was up to 1,419 with the same specs overall, but with a Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950, lol. :\
