I have custom-built MSI 1057 notebook computer with Hitachi Travelstar 100GB 7200RPM 2.5 inch HDD. I think that there's a problem with the HDD because the disk I/O LED on the front just below the touchpad buttons stays on for a few minutes, usually after turning the notebook on and a few times after that. The LED doesn't flash as it should. When the LED stays on, I can't use the notebook because I have to wait for the LED to go out. Windows XP on the notebook appears to be "frozen". If the HDD is bad, how do I get the store to exchange the HDD for Western Digital HDD?

Download and run the Hitachi DFT's.

Western Digital does not make 7200RPM laptop drives...only 5400.
