Barely anything about the company in the kickstarter page except for the founder who's a software guy. No apparent hardware or manufacturing experience or other sources of funding. I hope the backers get whatever they've paid for. Rather just install mint or whatever Stallman is using if FOSS is that important.
Right, without the hardware open it'd be just another laptop with a Linux distro on it. However the hardware that requires proprietary blobs and the lack of a open BIOS is what other laptops offer- I'm optimistic it might be a change.
