Do you need to increase power limit if you overclock graphic memory alone?

    Hello guys,
Is there a need to increase power limit (maybe voltage is obviously for GPU itself) in overclock utilities like MSI AB to overclock VRAM alone (say from 10000 to 11000mhz effective)?
    Thanks
Edit: My card at stock doesn't exceed 80% power limit while gaming.

No, there's no need ro raise power limit.

Although... there is no reason not to increase the power limit to max.
There are a few reasons why GPU clock speeds drop, power limit is one.
Why increase the chance of reduced performance when you dont have to.

Power limit at min allows the hardware to downclock more.
Power limit at max doesnt overclock, it helps normal max clocks to be sustained.

When not clocking, it is unlikely to make much difference on a none OC card.
It might with a card that comes pre-clocked.

  5. At least on Pascal cards, memory is also part of power limit, memory doesn't have a separate power controller on these cards. If you want the same performance out of your GPU while OCing memory, you need to increase power limit as well. Although it is not by much, going from 10GHz to 11GHz is close to 5% of power limit.
