I am not a total noob to OCing, but i just wanted to get other users advice. i did OC my CPU to 4.5-4.6 with 75 C, which i presume is the normal avg load temp. I did use 10 passes of IntelBurn, i did revert back to Optimised Settings, via my Saberooth Z77. I am in future getting a G1 Gigabyte 1080, so i just wanted to know. Should i be OCing at 4.2 Ghz, cause as of right now, my turbo is stock 3.9Ghz, i just wanted to boost it up a bit, to the best performance settings on 4.2 Ghz. Thanks Guys and Gals.Guys and Gals.
That overclock is good and temp are great. I clocked mine to 4.4 but to be honest, I was lazy and I used auto overclock. My temps max at 75 c. It should give you plenty of headroom for a 1080
That seems like a good (oc). My 4790k will almost never pass 60c under any type of load so I keep it at 4.4 ghz, I dont see a point going any higher then 4.4 ghz for just gaming/Net surfing.
I've OC'd to 4.5Ghz on my 3770k with a mild voltage increase it's been stable now for a good 2 years... I love it.. highest temps I see is 70C under heavy stress apps.. only a few games push it to high 65+c which is also nice I just wish the idle temps were better, idle temps using an h100 cooler are only around 30-35C, whatever, can't have everything I guess lol
I use a corsair H-80 i push/pull I just turned-off turbo and all the power-saving features but I have gotten it up to 4.8 Ghz @ 1.38v but that was a little to high for my tastes and temps were hovering close to 70 c under load. Not worth it in my opinion. I always wanted to get the 3770k but couldnt afford one back then. They for sure run cooler then the Amd counterparts.
