EVGA today is launching a new build of PrecisionX, this will be build 15. EVGA has made a move to developing the tweaking utility in-house, meaning they will cut ties with the previous develop programmer. By itself great news, but unfortunately this has to be the most awkward story I have ever written in the history of Guru3D.com Did EVGA copy the entire Rivatuner design and features concept from the original programmer ?

Looks like Copy - Paste, but i guess it's better to do this way, than create unusually annoying interface, where you don't understand anything at all. But they should've asked or at least put credits to the author of Riva Tuner.

Do we know for a fact that they only copied the overlay, and not the core code aswell?

i guess they decided it was perfect as it was and just steal it.
a sum should at least have been offered.

But everyone who used rivatuner will know that it is not EVGA design neither it's new, they can't brag about it.

Isnt this old news? Evga Precision was a copy of Afterburner like forever.

evga has been doing shady stuff for years... This doesn't surprise me one bit.

    You are misinterpreting something.

MSI Afterburner and EVGA PrecisionX used the same licensed RivaTuner Core engine hence the similarities. EVGA stops the agreement, develops their in-house software .. yet took the design features and interface layout from the Rivatuner Core.

I can see the (very significant) similarities to AB, though given the shared lineage, that's hardly surprising. If they're using his core code though without paying for it... that's wrong.

ok ok listen these guys from evga know i will kill for my guy alex so they best stay on the other side of the m f in country.Steal his work and have the ballz to say they have new software thats low as you can get.
I am not missing the little bitches from evga forums crying about this and that not working becuase they fail at reading release notes and need everything spoon feed to them.

Really can't we just get rtss to stop working with any evga card? that would be best thing to do.

That would hardly be fair - the people that bought evga products arent responsible for evga's mischiefs.

Besides, i use msi afterburner, and i would like that to continue working, regardless of what happens with precision x.

    Well thats a good point
To just stop buying evga cards is a better idea

Hmm very interesting. I smell a lawsuit. If they did use the code without permission or paying for it. This is not right. Not right at all.

I don't see how they could have achieved the same features without using the same code.

If they release the software with a disclaimer stating the design was from another software developer, then they would be clean.

Non-disclosure would be bad for them.

I'm over-simplifying the licence, but that's the basics of it - this is based on licence agreements I've issued in the past and negotiated on both sides of the fence.

I'd have to see the original agreement to be sure, but I imagine there would be a clause covering this.

    So...I'm assuming a lot here.

We'll find out one way or the other when the program launches sometime today.

Yes very true. Also we do not know what the main OCing screen looks like with the different sliders for GPU clock, Memory clock, and voltage. To me that would be another important tidbit.
