I put my res at 4k and I get 1fps with my card lol.

A single 2080 will beat a SLI 1080. That's just how it is generation upon generation. nvidia likes raking in money with a new card each year or 2

Will the 2080 play @ 60fps high quality, 16x AA framedrop no less then 45fps

You all think this is possible or not...

Will find out in about 10 years how the 2080 performs.

Few things. How in the hell would anyone here have any idea how well it will perform.
And, most important. Just like the 1080 being touted as a 4k gaming card, games requirements tend to jump up along with the cards. Will the 2080 run today's games at 4k 60 FPS, probably. Will it run the games at 4k 60 FPS that come out after the 2080 is out, doubtful.

Because if they stick to their naming scheme it should be the 1180GTX, not the 2080.

Not necessarily, you need to look at the average resolution people use. I remember when we were all using 800x600, then suddenly 1024 became the norm, then 1280, 1600, ...

Now we've arrived at 1080p being pretty standard and OK to run on most systems. We'll get to 4K as a mainstream resolution, eventually, but it's not quite there yet.

What are the specs? If we had any info on whatever a 2080 is, I could tell you if it would run 4k or not. But this hypothetical card you think is coming, if it is enthusiast class of card, will do 4k @ 60fps on probably most games that came out before the card is released. Like someone else said in this thread, as far as it doing 4k for games released after the card? It doesnt seem like that is the norm anymore... But maybe by then, hardware might get ahead of the software again... And then someone can fill up that fill rate with even more technical rendering tools that catch up again.. Ray tracing perhaps might be the norm. LOL! Hey while were at it, lets finally get 10bit colors! I'd love to see the difference of 16 million colors to 1 billion colors!

I did my best to speculate. It honestly took a long time for 1080p to be standard (or rather, easily runable for cheap modern cards on AAA games, aka mainstream), and my GTX 1080 can even struggle at that res if I pick the right game. I don't see resolution obsolescence being a factor at all.

You mean the wrong game. A GTX1080 should not be struggling at 1080p.

Lol, sure. But, I also don't see that issue going away any time soon. As unfortunate as that is.

Yes it's possible, but at the same time, it's not possible.

Just got my 2080 GTX today. Awesome card.

Sadly it only does 58fps @ 4K, bummer.

Gonna return it and wait for the 2080 Ti

    Volta, y2018 or end 2017.
    GV100? - big one, not GV104 variants.
    HBM2, etc., 800-1000GB/s, 16GB vram
    10nm?,
    more rops 128,
    pixelfillrate at least 200 - 250gpixel/s,
    texture fill 600-700gtexel/s.

Such gpu will easily chew through 4K, even very latest games.

vs TitanXP spec to see the bigger picture by how much it could be faster

Well, if those are the specs, I am sure it could do 4k 10bit color on just about any game released and for quite some time at 100fps. :)

NV praised it and well it could be possible,

:nerd: I made that rough estimate inline with this NV gpu release chart perf/watt.. just about right and not too absurd, well would be also logical to raise all, especially ROPs, we've been stuck on 96 for a while.
