i've just had a server given to me from parents work. it's a quad xeon 750, on a SUPERMICRO S2DL3mobo so u have the choice of this mobo and cpu<br> or the dual athlon 1.4? the choice is yours i have no idea which one is faster. which ever gets the most wins.

i wouldnt get dual or quad anything, the reason is, is that it wont make much difference playing games, the game itself has to be specifically written for duel or quad processor, the only game that i know of that has that capabilty is quake3 but a single 1.2ghz athlon is capable of getting like 100fps in that game, i certainly dont have a prob with it

apparently with the dual setup you can assign the one processor to do a task and the other processor another. so one would probably do well as a server and the other as an mp3 player or something for you. <br> it is your pc, so whatever you do with it is up to you.<br> put it to clan use and we all really do appreciate it.
I'll use the AMD for a clan server, coz the xeon can play almost evry game out. i will have a C/S server up 2day sumtime. i will keep ya all posted as normal.
Omg, a Quad Xeon??? That thing can serve 2000 users and still have enough power to host a c/s server.
