i only upgrade cause 4.7 in win (1703) was telling me ACHI wasnt enabled when it was, 5.x build says it is enabled but 5.0 seem to gona with minimal list setup, it seem to be missing alot things.
Somehow I got RAPID working by updating my SATA controller manually via device manager. I've used AMD's 17.10 AHCI package for that, driver version 1.2.1.402, driver date 29/03/2015. After this RAPID could be enabled again. Still, version 5 is a dumbed down pos.
Just ordered a Samsung 850 Evo 1TB SSD and was wondering if I should install this and mess around with the firmware? I read here or elsewhere that this application can break the SSD on a certain firmware. I'm coming from two Velociraptors 600GB 10k RPM in Raid Striping, so will I notice any difference i.e. boot time, game loading, extracting zip files? Do I even need to install this application for my SSD? Thanks in advanced.
Firmware updates usually are for bug fixing. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check if yours needs an update.
Okay, cool. Also I was wondering if that RAPID mode is useful and would it also work with an 850 Evo? Dude I was going to get the 960 Evo but I decided to get the 850 Evo instead because of the issues most people are having with the heat. You got no heat issues on yours?
There are no 'issues' with 960s regarding heat. They run warm, maybe 60-70c but that's within spec. I put a heatsink on mine for only 10$ or so and mine won't pass low 40s under benchmarking. As for rapid mode working on the 850 evo, yes, is it useful? No
