I do not know what the hell to do anymore I need to put together a new system but at this point having so many options I am debating between Intel vs Amd here is a couple of choices I narrowed it down. 1) i3 7350k-$ 130.00 On sale now at MC ( really curious about this one) 2) i7 6700k- $ 279.99 Skylake I can spring for this one if needed 3)i7 7700k-$299.99 Kaby-lake- I really want this cpu but what cooling and board would I use for it??? On Amd side..... 1) Ahhhh Ryzen 7 1700 8/16 - $319.99 (Dying for this cpu!!!!) 2)Ryzen 5 1600 6/12- $219.99 3) Ryzen 5 1500x-$ 189.99 4/8 The only board I like for this system is the Asus Crosshair Hero but $250 in my opinion is pushing it for a god-dam amd motherboard.
I wouldn't bother with the i3 7350k for modern gaming however it would be good as a side project. If you are into future proofing then I would get one of the ryzen cpus.
Get either the 7700k or the Ryzen 1700. I doubt either will let you down. On the amd side the ASRock taichi x370 is a good choice. It's just under $200 usually and has great to good oc options with a beefy vrm. On the intel side the ASRock taichi z270, read above. If you got a lesser cpu and ended up getting an aio, the price would be the same. Getting the better cpu to start with is always the better option. A budget heat sink that would work on either cpu am4 or lga1151, the arctic freezer a11/i11
On the Intel side (is it me or are they boring?) - Ignore option 1, 2/4 no thanks. Ignore option 2 because of option 3 On the AMD side things are more interesting - Option 1, 8/16 very nice Option 2, 6/12 nice Option 3, 4/8 OK and way cheaper than an i7 (wont o/c as well but you can't have everything!) My build would be a 1600X (I'm lazy) with a B350 motherboard (save loads of money to put towards more/faster DDR4).
Main use is Gaming yes, also recording /brodcasting videos ect...Its getting tuffer to recommend intel these days Ryzen is just a fantastic value But like I said Gaming is primary concern. Does B-350 support Sli or I need x370 for that?
Well it seems like some more x-370 boards have been released from Gigabyte,Asrock, and are priced pretty good also....I still want the Asus crosshair but damm 250 come-on! Theres an open box for 190 lol I am getting cheeper the older I am haha.
I'm even more of a cheapskate then as i'll be going for a B350 board which will be about £75
Hey. Would side with the 7700K choice if you plan on gaming a lot. It's less future-proof than a Ryzen 1700, but you will surely get a lot more performances right now. And it's not like it's gonna be obsolete in a year. About the cooling, it depends on your preferences. I went for a Noctua DH15s, expensive and bulky, but so efficient and quiet, I'd recommend it every day. And about the board, pretty much any z270 with the features you need will suffice.
