16x 6-card rigs, assuming 1070s since AMD gpus are getting shafted by the DAG epochs at around 110w would put it at 10.5 kW. Price of electricity in the US is around 0.121 $/kWh, which would put monthly bill at 914$ a month. That said, they would make 450$ a day today.

In a month, that is a different story, since with etherum, you would RoI in about 7 months, but it won't be minable by then. ZCash with current difficulty change would be unprofitable in about 6 months without RoI, and after all the insane amount of hashrate from etherum moves to other altcoins, like zencash or ETC or whatever else, the difficulty spike will only keep solars very slightly profitable.

I'm dying to see the bubble burst and the second hand market flood with dirt cheap GPU's.
It's unfair, actually needing a GPU and having none because people buy them in the dozens for sitting there, mining...

That's mere drop in the ocean. Guy in Iceland has 2 very large warehouses with thousands of racks of GPU's. 10,000+ GPU's....1 million euros electric bill a month.

halfway through short video shows you the guy https://youtu.be/SJgWqbZBn6I

Today on Animal Planet, the GPUgobbler in its native environment.

Does this stuff even get used for anything useful (like F@H) or is it all pointless speculation?

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!

It's still possible to get a RX 580 for a reasonable price. Set auto-notify on Newegg for a product, and when you get the email then immediately click on the link and put it in your cart. There should only be a 15 minute window so you need to be quick, but it can be done.
