Ok I have an old Dell machine which iam trying to install my old Gfx card into...Evga gtx 780 SC I installed it into the only available pcie-e slot very top lane and the fans sped up right away but no pic.... 2nd I have some kind of older oem powersupply 200 watt I think which I used for the gfx card but I only had 1 8-pin connector connected ( dont have a spare adapter) lying around ****! ....My question is schould the card get ample juice from the 1 - 8 pin connector plus whatever the pcie-e lane is giving it xtra juice? I am getting no picture whatsoever its just telling me to cooect the other 6-pin which I do not have obviously. So there is 2 power-supplys cuurently hooked-up to it, the oem that supplys motherboard hardrives and ect plus the additional 200 watt i hooked-up for the gfx card. What do you think is going on not enough juice or is it the missing 6 pin iam not supplying??? Thank you for any help on this.
I had the same issue once with the fans spinning at 100% turned out to be the card being badly seated in the pcie slot , check for that and check for gpu sag giving it a poor connection
Very good idea Archie, I just orderd a cheep-ass Diablotek 500 watt Psu from Micro center , it wont cost me anything I have that much in store credit so I will just hold-off till tommorow. I hope 500 Watts will be enough for the whole system, I wont be overclocking the system at all lol. Thoughts?
So here is the whole system specs guys..... Sorry I did not list it earlier I cut my freaking hand opening this pos dell lol and I got blood all over the case haha. 1) Intel Pentium E2160 @ 1.9 GHZ? dual core/ 2 threads 2) 3 gb DDR2 398.5 Mhz lol Speed baby! DDR4 eat your heart out 3)Intel G33/G31 EXPRESS graphics lol 4) Windows 7 sp1 5) 90 gb corsair ssd I added for windows faster load times 6) 1 500 gb 7200 rpm hdd Wester digital? 7) Asus AC66 network adapter came with pc ( added bonus) 8)Asus 1920x1080 monitor supplied by me. 9) Evga Gtx 780 Sc- supplied by me obviously Just need the psu tommorow and I will fire it up, any possible way I can maybe oc the cpu just a tad or am I sol???
It's unlikely you'll be able to OC, but you could look for a custom bios for the exact mobo you have. If there is one you'll have limited options most likely, but it's worth a shot.
Well that sucks I guess lol- So anyway well see how bad the bottleneck is tommorow once I put that Diablotek psu in.As long as it can play ( some new games) I will be happy I guess. Thanks guys will report tommorow what happens wish me luck I dont blow it up.
