Recently the alternator in my 1996 Ford Ranger Super cab XLT 4.0L V6 fried and I put a new one in and now I hear a "chirping noise" when ever I put my foot on the gas, and I already had the belt tight but tightened it a little more but same thing happens. Could it be the belt that needs to be replaced?

Probably. I replace mine every two years whether they need it or not. Also, if that is a new drive pulley on the alternator, it may take some time before the old belt wears into the profile of the new pulley.

Yea it looks like a new pulley on the alternator and I'll probably buy a new belt any way this week or next week hen I get paid since their $30-$50 even though the current belt doesn't have any cracks that I can see when I take it off.

I'd get it fixed. Had the same issue with my old Peugeot 106 due to a frayed belt, cut the cooling pipe.
