So I got a new rig figure I'd share it faults and upsides. Azza Hurrican 2000R Case + Kingwin Mach1 1000w PSU Asus Sabertooth P67 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 i7-2600k @ 4.3Ghz 1.32v Cooled via Noctura NH-D14 8Gb G.Skill ddr3 2 1600Mhz going to up this to 16Gb soon. 2 Sapphire HD6950s Crossfire flashed to HD6970 specs on Catalyst 11.4 priview driver OS drive is OCZ Vertex2 90GB DATA drive is 4x1TB WD black drive in raid10 array 3 22"monitor Eyefinity Configuration at 6088x1080 (with bezel compensation) Current issues and some not fixed: 1.) Default Power save settings cause random PC lockups and drops everyone on network until PC is restarted. Fixed by Disabling all power save features in windows 7. 2.) Due to Eyefinity Configuration GPU tempwith stock fan speeds idle at 64C. After 4 hours of Crysis it over heated. Manual fan control is a must at 55% temps are respectable and no crashes, its just loud. 3.) Black ops shows 90-120FPS at max settings at 6088x1080. Once the infrared scope is used frame rates drop to low 10s. I have no idea how to fix this one. 4.) World of Warcraft will NOT run stable. CTD with an error requested too much memory. Apparently this is a known issue and the "Fix for it" doesn't work... well not for long anyway. 5.) Crysis has really low frame rates, 13-23 on max settings. There is no way this is right, theres gotta be a fix for it. Help FPS and Benches: Left 4 dead 2: 100-140 Blackops: 90-120 Windows: 7.7 Passmark: 3937 Any tips or ideas would be awesome.
That's a nice rig you got there. The performance in Crysis is obviously faulty with the gear you have. I have old equipment, maybe some of the guys with newer stuff can help? My only advice would be upgrade your drivers but I assume you've already done that
yeah.. tried 11.2 11.3 and 11.4 prieview drivers. all the same results. I read somthing earlier about renaming crysis.exe to bioshock.exe but I cant find the thread anymore.
seems like they're crossfire issues (which takes a while to fix). I would try flashing back to 6950, & see if some issues go away. Dual graphics card cause problems, also try "less" screens 2? Maybe RMA and get a 6990/590? The Power settings usually can be changed in the bios, S1/S3, etc. (try the other one)
The high temps is a result of multiple monitors. I know this is fact. The crysis and wow issue are game profile issue or something of that nature. Ive tried both bois versions. Can't RMA ran out of time like 5 days ago. But the performance from the crossfire is better when compared to a solo 6990. Before the i7-2600k released I would agree with you but now the CPU isn't bottlenecking the crossfire performance. Plus.... 6990 = 750$ vs 2x6950(unlocked) = 500$ FUN FACT: The Sapphire version I have has dual bios switch. YAY testing made easy!
