    With my Radeon 7850 (and ALL driver releases since 1 year) GPU scaling (centered timings) works flawlessly in DX8/DX9 games, but doesn't work in DX10/DX11 games.

    Is it normal? This issue will never be fixed?

    I had this problem when PC was connected by HDMI to TV, auto-scale was wrong, I fix it in Catalyst. When i play Fallout 3 all was ok, but when some other games, has wrong scaling with black border. I think it was on 14.4 drivers. Also PC monitor connected by DVI and have no trouble.
    And if you want black borders, maybe there is setting on TV/Monitor that override catalyst sets? I'll do some test and post.

    Yes when connected through HDMI most TV's and even Monitors have a Overscan option. Sometimes you can disable this through the TV or Monitor and it's usually named Gaming Mode. You can also adjust this with the Catalyst Control Panel too which does work out for me. Anytime though you run your game in a different Resolution or even Refresh Rate, it will have black borders or overscan, because the Catalyst Control Panel isn't being told how to use those new modes.

    So to solve this issue for me I do the steps below.

    1. Open up Screen Resolution in the Control Panel (even right clicking the Desktop and selecting the option works)
    2. Click on Advance Settings
    3. Click on Monitor Tab
    4. I change the refresh rate to something lower and change my overscan options in the Catalyst Control Panel for the Resolution and Refresh Rate.

    Once you changed it for every refresh rate, just select a new resolution and repeat the steps above.

    I test 2 games with centered timings on: DX9 Rig'n Roll, have that borders around - OK
    DX11 FarCry 4, still stretched - not working
    So, I have the same issue. No matter HDMI or DVI.

    Exactly, the problem is with DX10 and DX11 engines/rendering path.
    Far Cry 3 (->THREE) DX9: OK
    Far Cry 3 (->THREE) DX11: NO

    Thanks but I know the cause: DX10/11. With DX9 it's all right.

    With my GeForce Forceware I have the option to "force" the scaling and it's necessary sometimes with DX10/11. Catalyst drivers need the same otherwise the game ignores the scaling option :p

    Submitted the issue to AMD with the new support program.
