Keep sli 770's or go to 780ti kingpin?

Have a chance to buy a 780ti kingpin and wondered if it would be a big or small upgrade from my stock 770's sli? I do think I eventually want to go back to a single card so that will enter into my decision.

K|ngp|n is a bad choice just the regular 780Ti Classy is recommended for normal use and gamer level overclocking. I would wait for higher end Maxwell cards personalty. Two GK104's are still a great setup.

    1 780ti is a downgrade in performance from sli 680, 680 4gb sli owner prior to gk110.

It depends how far he overclocks that kingpin... but with a "normal" overclock, youre absolutely right :)

kingpin is a terrible choice and I do not think you can get a classy or kingpin high enough on the core to beat 680 sli with any oc. unless you go extreme cooling. my 680 sli at 1280 had a lot more horsepower than 1 ti at 1202. you would need 2 ti to make it a worthwhile upgrade. like I did

I went from GTX 680 SLI to single GTX 780 and honestly it was a good choice. Skyrim runs much smoother because there is more vram. Also games generally don't scale as nicely as benchmarks. Some games have serious issues with SLI (SWTOR). Tomb Raider had issues too (tressfx hair was bugged). Obviously there is the noise and power advantage.

I did the same as well, down graded from 680 SLI to a single 780 and wouldn't hesitate to do it again... actually, I still have both the 680s so if I really want to I can switch back at any time, but won't as I prefer the performance of the single 780.

Also want to add, I never had an issue with SLI and was satisfied with the performance.

Interesting opinions, thanks. Maybe it will help to know what the two used 770's are worth?

I sold 2 680 ftw 4gb cards a few months ago for 250 and 300. I think the max you are going to get is around 250 each if they are 2gb cards. Up to 300 if they are the 4gb models. It was extremely hard for me to sell the 680s. The 680s vram clocked up to 7200.

So maybe 400 for the pair or keep them and replace the 570's in my backup computer. Selling them would help my decision on the Kingpin.

There's absolutely no point in buying the Kingpin unless you're aiming to spend the cards life benchmarking with extreme cooling.

Id be quite happy with a kingpin on custom water, cards are supposedly able to hit 1500mhz although i have not looked to see if there is one. It has the finest of cherry picked architecture and is completely unlocked. Waste of time if your on air. For a 3GB card the Kingpin is expensive and that is the achilles heal for me.

Id wait for the 800 series coming from 2x770s.

True 3gb kingpin would be a waste. just get a classy 6gb if you wanna spend that money. I'd stay with the sli for now you should be fine with most games. considering your gaming at 1080p.

Two 780's would be nice too if you wanna spend the dough : p. I'm waiting for Maxwell before I decide if I want to sli.
