My attention span when it comes to algebra can be pretty short.

I want to achieve the effect of 0.5x SSAA seen in Metro series, with Nvidia's upscaling.

    1440*900=1926000
1926000/2=648000 (so this is my desired pixel count, and now I want to make a 16:10 resolution out of this)
Where do I go from here?

Can you not create a custom resolution like this?

It renders the screen at 720x480 for me but keeps the 1440x900 size, but it looks horrible, my native res 1080p though.

Not exactly your desired calculation, but in the custom resolution section, 960x600 should work. Used it for quite some time in CS. Use a negative LOD bias and AF 16x to compensate the blurrier textures.
