I just got the new gtx 980 and it says it's a 780ti in the device manager. It seems that i can't install the 344.16 drivers as well, as i think that one is only for 970s and 980s. Any thoughts? I tried GPU-Z and it also says its a 780ti... I am so confused. Can anyone help.
Reinstall windows and then install 344.16 drivers to rule out driver or software problem. Does anywhere on card say 780ti? Any sticker or label or marks? If it still shows up as 780ti, then it's time to RMA and get a replacement.
For the love of god, don't reinstall windows because of device manager. Download gpuz and see what gpu it says it is. If it says 780ti then you go screwed and send it back
My gtx 970 has so far been recognized as: 780ti (forget what said this) gtx870 (3dmark thinks so anyways) I think this was with the previous driver I was using. Anyways, the 780ti uses 2x 8 pin power pins while the 9 series all use 2x 6 pin (as far as I know). If you have 2x 6 pin plugs then that's not a 780ti.
