Hi, I'm building a budget PC to work at home. Its just for Linux, no gaming at all, only PHP/Java programming, basic video editing, etc. As you can see on the left, my PC is very old and Linux don't like very much ATI videocards I found Pentium K G3258 3,2GHz to be a nice and cheap CPU, but i have some doubts about the chipsets that support it. I saw the review and you said that only Z97 chipset is supported, but i'm considering right now the MSI H97 PC Mate mobo, whose price is really good (about 90€) and its pretty decent. Is this a problem? I really need the Z97 chipset? Thanks in advance.
Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2PV Motherboard Socket LGA1150 H81 Is what I used for a work's office pc with G3258
Thank you, but after some research, i decided to give a try to Asus Z97-P, looks like a nice and cheap motherboard for just 105€, and with this chipset i can overclock with np this CPU. You can close the thread
