Have a look at this. This update was installed without my permission, it wasn't selected, its a recommended update, infact windows installed 14 updates even doh I selected only 1 update. Type in google "3022345" ( i can't post links, its support.microsoft) You can find it under services, Diagnostics tracking, its switched on by default! c1: I wouldn't be shocked if its on your pc and the rest of the world. As windows has tried to sneak in this update 3 times. I wish I could sue Microsoft over this.
http://www.ghacks.net/2015/05/12/how-to-disable-the-diagnostics-tracking-service-in-windows/ https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3022345 http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30018831-Diagnostics-Tracking-Service-MS-KB-3022345 No idea what's being tracked here though, thanks for the heads up, i'll disable it. Likely to help program crashes? Who knows.
Little bit of an over reaction there but the description is rather vague but thanks for the heads up.
not a keylogger, but more like a part maintenance and windows health.. Just like diagnostic policy service
I read the same description yeah, but without a wireshark capture i'm not sure what they're sending. MS offered no real info on it either. I'm no real tinfoil hat man tbh, i'll forget about this soon.
I expected it wouldn't be, but what is it phoning home on? I googled some on it, and it was really vague on what it was doing. I get i'm just being paranoid and that MS don't give a damn about me.
So is diagnostic policy service then well I see it uses utcsvc By quick google check I found this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...u/ffe864f1-bda6-4f98-b76a-95c4897fe65f?page=2 maybe its also preparation for win10 upgrade or some part of windows store apps, since it specifically mentions windows components & But then again I see it got installed @ 30.4.2015, so its been a while now.. edit: from 2919355 and connection with this.. imo its harmless, just for better hw support and windows metro app (modern apps) functionality like mentioned in quick description info..
For sure, I expected it would be, I'm just a bit perplexed why they wouldn't do an opt out, seems like something that slipped through the QA people.
Well... Windows 10's official release is pretty damn close now. Wouldn't surprise me if it were something else designed to help make the upgrade more painless.
To uninstall (win^x choose admin cmd): wusa /uninstall /kb:3022345 Or run: sc stop Diag Track sc delete Diag Track
And do you have some sort of evidence to back this claim up? It's people like you that ensure that we are surveiled. Also I find it odd that ms are stealing from you, it's your data after all, not theirs to do with as they please. I don't really oppose this type of stuff if it was opt-in.
FFS man. It's there to collect data on crashes, bugs and how you use the OS. How do you expect Microsoft to improve on their stuff? I can assure that the NSA is not spying on you. There are far more efficent ways to do that than bugging your os.
While you possibly are correct you have no way of knowing that. In fact I would claim that there are not many better ways of spying on us than through the os. I find it truly odd that you claim the NSA isn't spying on us. Snowden would probably disagree, unless you aren't really using the internet. Well you are probably correct, but without evidence. The thing that really bugs me about this is this. You may have heard about the mk ultra project by the us in the 50´s. This all started when people came back from korea (iirc, not sure which country the wikipedia article has the correct info) to the us claiming that the korean system (communism) was better. This from people that had been regular americans. Now the koreans obviously didn't start out by asking them to think that communism was better. They started out small, maybe claiming that 'not everything about the Us is good'. Or there are something about our system that is slightly better. Doing it a little step at a time. This kind of service is one of those steps. Please don't accept or give leeway to anything that invades our privacy and/or makes us less free.
I think he is saying if the NSA was spying, it wouldn't be a visible service you can disable or use the word tracking in the description.
I have no issues with it. I did read about KB3022345 braking Windows updates, which is worrying. Seems like it has been corrected now. http://www.infoworld.com/article/29...kb-3022345-and-kb-3048043-broke-updating.html
Do you really think if it was some dodgy keylogger that MS were using to spy on people with, they would advertise it as a tracking service?
