Hi Alex,

THX 4 ur reply at NVmax forum.
I have to admit: Riva Tuner is (allmost) an alternative for NVMax. I did a clean install of the 12.41's, removed them as fast as the came after crashes in 3DMark2K (lock-ups in 1024x768x16 SW T&L; never seen!!!) and went back to the 6.50's. OK, they are not the newest or fastest, but for me the most stable, compatible and reliable. I also installed RivaTuner20RC41 along NVmax2094 and indeed it offers allmost the same functionality. However, compared to NVmax there are still a couple of options greyed out or missing. Since NVmax is no longer supported, can we expect a completion of RivaTuner in the next release?

This message was edited by NEChris on 08 Jun 2001 10:25 AM

Did u use the power user page?
After u would do it u will understand why nvmax sucks compared with RivaTuner!

About 12.41:
What card do u have?
For TNT 5.32 is best. (tried on my old TNT)
For TNT2 7.97 is best.(i.m using these so i know what i'm saying).
For GF3 12.60 is best.

For GF2 ??? 6.50 for dx7, 12.41 for dx8.
THX for your reply. I had a look on the power user page, but it's rather (for me too) complicated: I've not enough knowledge of all the reg values. A little explanation with a "Help" function would really help. Will that be available in the next release?

All my games, with NFS PU as favourite, use either DX5, 6 or 7, so looking back I didn't need to install DX8 (but the way back..... ) and for the time being I don't need a DX8 optimised driver.

I can't understand why the 12.41's locked-up in 3DMark2000 1024x768x16 SW T&L (Adventure medium detail); I used the same tweak settings as for the 6.50's. Maybe the 12.41 do not support FW and SBA? Well, what I read about the 12.41's on this and other forums is not too wonderfull . NVidia did a really good job!!!
> However, compared to NVmax there are still a couple of options greyed out or missing.

1. Options are grayed when hardware/OS/drivers don't support em. NVMax doesn't check this options and always provide 'em (even if they are really not supported). For example, S3TC quality trick is enabled on GF/GF2/GF3 on Deonator 6.47 and older, automatic mipmapping settings are disabled on GF256 and higher (this GPUs don't support it)

2. About missing options. AC adds options even if he doesn't know what do they really do. It's not my way.
One question left: Texture filtering settings is greyed out. Does my card and/or driver not support this? In NVmax I could set at least "Off" or "8-Tap Bilinear, 16-Tap trilinear":
U mean D3D settings? Anisotropic filtering in D3D can be forced on Detonator 10.xx and higher.
