Today we peek at the Seasonic 1000W Platinum series. It's 1000W Platinum certified incredibly silent modular and can be spotted for just 235 EUR. Hell they even throw in a 7 year warranty. That just...

Pretty price tag, but well, damn.

Quality is all around in that thing. Cold, Platinum certified, modular, 7 year warranty...

    Whew!

I almost wanna get it for my new rig, even though I'd not come close to using it since I don't SLi.

I wonder why being a Techie as I am, even though I know it's useless for me, I still want stuff like this. I mean knowledge that I could get a lesser one and it'd perform the same for my needs should logically dictate that I don't need it, yet I reaaally want it. Human nature.

Here it is on Newegg for all interested: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151105

The Fan in my X760 barely ramps up at all. Even during gaming it doesn't always spin up.

Nice to see a Seasonic unit reviewed.

At this point I'd not buy any other brand PSU, though I have little need for 1KW units as my current 460W Gold unit is more than enough.

About the idle wattage result, lower rated units should do better overall as it's more difficult to maintain high efficiency once you deviate from the 50-70% utilization range.

Obviously this will be more noticeable with multi-GPU or highly overclocked rigs, as the delta between idle and load wattages is much higher.

"this might be the best PSU we've ever tested."
    That is high praise indeed.
A Seasonic. I'm sure it deserves all that praise great PSU - great price.

Antec is the King of nothing.

They were in the past, but now they are living on faded glory. People see them through nostalgia goggles.

Seasonic makes Antec's Neo Eco and High Current Gamer PSUs... and the High Current Pro 1200W is comparable to Corsair AX1200, i.e. a contender for the best 1200W PSU money can buy.

The HCG PSU's are a joke though, even if they're from Seasonic.

Also all of Antec's PSU are semi-modular, not totally modular.

It was tested two weeks ago also on jonnyguru, if anyone want comparison to this test
    http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=264

If you want just Scoring it ends like this.:
    Summary

Was the long wait for this unit to hit the marketplace worth it? Yes. Have I seen a unit outperform this one for voltage stability? No.
There's only one more question that needs to be asked, people: how fast can you buy one?

    The Good:

Extremely good voltage stability - best I've seen to date
    Platinum efficiency is no problem
    Fully modular
    Has a selectable semi-fanless mode
    Excellent build quality

    The Bad:
How the hell is Seasonic going to top this one?

    The Mediocre:
How the hell is anybody going to top this one?

And so? My PSU sucking hardcore has nothing to do with facts.

A person without cancer can say cancer is horrible and it's still true. So I can have a bad PSU and still say another is horrible, doesn't make it less true.

860w is still too much dude.

Always try to size your supply so that your full load is 70-80% the PSU rating.

Otherwise your going to be on the worse end of the efficiency curve/waste money on a PSU you do not need.
