Only played an hour so far, but I expected the worst. In reality, the game is stunning at full whack and I'm at 60 fps nearly all the time, with no hitches or stutters. Of course, I'm aware things could change further into the game, but with all the hubbub surrounding this title (and SLI in particular), I expected a nightmare from the get-go. Color me pleasantly surprised.

This game is also proof that 2 GTX 980s are not 'overkill' for 1080p, at least if you demand max settings and 60 fps. My cards are being fully utilized, and the graphics seem to justify the hardware overhead.

When you say max settings, is that with 8x msaa? :p

Running TXAA currently; haven't tried any other AA solutions yet.

We should hold them to that statement next time they release a broken game!

How can you use all the powah of your 980's in 1080p then? Im running 1440p, and im using like 60-80% gpu power :S

With 2 high end GPUs you damn well should be getting 60fps. If I were you I'd drop to FXAA (which is almost as good as TXAA in this game) and use as much DSR as you can get away with. I've tested the game at 1440p and it looks fantastic.

TXAA looks dreadful in AC Unity in my experience; FXAA looks so much better and actual anti-aliases edges that TXAA doesn't! I don't know whether it's NVIDIA or Ubisoft games in general but TXAA looks poor in Far Cry 4 as well. :(

TXAA and even MSAA look like crap in this game because they add a whole bunch of white lines in the game geometry and even add them around characters! Truly disappointing implementation. Luckly FXAA looks the best and hides these hideous side effects.

I wish I could combine the in-game FXAA with 2x MSAA, but I can't have it all. Plus I thought the purpose of TXAA was to eliminate shimmering? In this game it intensifies the shimmering and aliasing...

You can, use ingame 2xMSAA and force FXAA in AC Unity profile (disable its disallowed flag) via nvinspector.

So far, I'm getting 60-99% usage at these settings, with a couple dips below 60 fps when I'm out of go-powah.

I know I can force fxaa through inspector, but it doesn't cover as much aliasing as the ingame fxaa. Take a screenshot if you don't believe me. I even tried forcing smaa and fxaa with sweetfx and the result is minuscule.

Was experimenting with anti-aliasing compatibility flags in inspector and the DX1x Bioshock flag (0x80000F71) allows me to force sparse grid supersampling, but unfortunately it breaks the ingame HBAO+ and fxaa... SSAO still works though.

I didn't know that, but I haven't bean comparing or taking screenshots. I was comparing the settings in game as you change them. Look at the interiors with fxaa turned on and then look at the same interiors with msaa turned on and you'll see how well fxaa removes interior aliasing and shimmering. Using radeonpro and sweetfx forcing smaa only slightly removes diagonal aliasing (hardly noticeable) whereas forcing fxaa blurs the image while hardly removing any aliasing. The same blur occurs when you force fxaa through nvidia control panel.

Was reading the patch notes and saw this:

    PC-Specific

Fixed crash on "Quit to Windows" in free roam mode
Fixed crash on accepting multiple "Join the club" requests
    Fixed issues with TXAA
    Fixed issues with PCSS
Fixed issues with textures on NPCs
Fixed black texture issues on MSAA-4x, MSAA-8x and TXAA
Right Control now can be assigned as a hotkey
    Minor UI fixes

Won't get my hopes up but I hope it fixes TXAA looking like crap.

Slight reading fail by doktor1 with the no love for PC part.

Will be starting this on boxing day so it's looking like it will be near enough fixed by then :)
