    The dreaded 8350.

I've had so many issues with my mobo and this cpu together that I thought i'd post one last thread just to see if it doesn't stop with some magical setting that I oversaw.

    Let me give you an example of what happens;
I run the cpu at complete stock @ 8 cores? Watching streams makes the pc freeze completely within 10-20 seconds. Same with gaming but it lasts a little longer.

I run the cpu at complete stock @ 6 cores? Exact same thing with more time inbetween freezes.

I run the cpu at complete stock @ 4 cores (currently)? Very rarely freezes on watching streams, and never on playing games.

It actually doesn't matter how high the frequency is, I can overclock it to 4.4Ghz (with higher temps of course) and it will just do fine as long as it @ 4 cores.

Anybody any suggestions? The 880G extreme3 does not infact completely support the 8350 "officially" but it supports 125w and piledriver.

Well if it officially doesn't support it even though it supports 125W CPUs then I think that is part of your problem. Are there any newer UEFI/BIOS versions for your board? If so I would try updating your BIOS and see if that helps. If not then you may have to get another board.

    most likely a driver issue.

Bios is updated to P2.10 which is latest.

    Any errors in Event viewer?

Also have you tried to spy after drivers with LatencyMon?

Also have you checked whether some CPU cores are parked or not? When number of cores is greater then 4 the core parking starts its game.

Another thought - have you disabled P-states and C-states in BIOS? In OS? In case CPU is not fully supported by motherboard the errors can be in any CPU-related operations.

Don't run that cpu without an after market cooler no matter what.

Yeah as mentioned above what are your bios settings? The 83xx is rock solid when installed in a compatible board....

Event viewer only tells me "unexpected shutdown of system" something along those lines with nothing else, which is basically the outcome of me having nothing else than manually resetting it.

    How do I check that?

AMD C-state support is disabled in bios, should I enable it?
No I don't have vdroop control.

Should I just flash the 890GX bios on this one?

If the 890GX bios adds cpu power options and will flash straight on, I would do it.

Do have latest bios for the 880G? Can u post a screenshot of the settings?

I'll do that, give me a minute or two.

    Edit:
Its fully updated to last bios version. (P2.10)

Your vcore is way way too high. No wonder it's freezing.

Take everything off auto and set it manually.

The 1.550 is Maximum voltage, not whats its currently at.

CPUID is telling me that the voltage jumps around from 1.1v to maximum of 1.348 when in games.

CPU-Z yes. HWmonitor is telling me the same thing.

    And according to this;http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/880G Extreme3/?cat=Download&os=BIOS

It is the latest version I can.

If don't got any other suggestions I will go and flash it and see if there's a difference.

Ok... I'm going to take a quick look at.

Could u disable Cool n Quiet, it should help with stability. Turn off spread spectrum also.

I think u should try the 890GX bios...

What happens to the vcore when the cpu is loaded?
You've got the CPU HT and NB power/frequency settings on auto, manual would be better then u have more control....

Does that bios have an offset voltage option? It should if it's AM3

1.352V was the highest I ever saw the vCore and that was at around 90% usage in a game.

Also my bad it did have LLC set to auto.

    Doesn't have offset voltage option.

EDIT: Tried the blackhole benchmark and at 100% usage it stays at a stable 1.352V with 4GHZ.

Problem is everytime I try with 8 cores it freezes to ****s.

For CPU core parking start 'Control panel\Administrative Tools\Resource Monitor' and click 'CPU' tab - on the right pane you will see all CPU cores. If any of them is parked you will see 'parked' or same near the core name like 'CPU 0 (parked)'. I don`t remember the exact pattern.
