just got done my htpc tonight. i cant beleive i spent all that money on a non-gaming rig. oh well. here is my question.... and im asking this because the fan vents on this desktop case are not really standard like a normal tower. i need to know what the best orientation for fan placements would be.(ie air flow in or out). the case design calls for the psu to have fan facing out so no inside air affects psu temps. im not convinced it matters so much though. to me having that fan sucking air out of the case would be a good thing. but im no engineer. the case comes with 1 x 120mm exhaust fan. there are fan spots on the top and right side. there is also one in front of the hard drive bay but there is no outside vent for fresh air in, so i dont think im not gonna use that one. here are a few pics..... http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8756/1002051hu5.jpg http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/8062/1002048ry3.jpg and the official site....but they dont give airflow diagrams.... http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?language=en&act=detail&tbcate=17&id=2553 so my questions are these... 1. which way should i orient my psu? 2. which way should i have the top and/or side fan oriented? (in or out). right now im thinking on just using one extra 120mm intake fan on the side with the cpu and both case fans having q-fan running them in silent mode via the bios, and leaving the psu sucking ambient air and not through the case. but im not sure. please lemme know what you think. htpc specs... Judging by the way the PSU is mounted, and that there is only one side fan: Have both top and side fans blow in and let the back one blow out. Have the psu pull air from within the case to push more hot air outside.
