I almost got 300 bluray movies and growing every tuesday whenever a new good bluray movie is released with reasonable price.
I bought the girl with the dragon tattoo at futureshop since I missed it in theaters but I watched the original trilogy on bluray for 25$, I got the 10$ coupon so I bought Mission Impossible 2 disc bluray combo from futureshop for 16.99$ at day one :)
I check ebay.ca, amazon.ca, futureshop.ca, bestbuy.ca, hmv.ca and always try to get the lowest price or if I want it now, I don't care if I buy in store for a higher price.
I got 3 out 4 of season of yu yu hakusho and the 4th on its way since they finally had some stock.
I got about 15 steelbooks and I only buy them If I don't own them in normal bluray cases.
I got 6 3d blurays so far since I just recently started buying new 3d release movies that cost about 5$ more than the 2d blurays.
Ever since I got my first bluray, I can't stand watching dvds except for older movies that has no point for bluray that are really cheap for less than 5$
I would take a picture of my entire collection but I got them all in a box until I and my family move on to the new house in july.
Anyone else here a fan or addicted to bluray ?
It is really an EXPENSIVE hobby along with pc parts building/updates

At last count I have 409 blu-rays. I have them all ripped to PC so I can stream them to my PS3 with the PS2 Media Server. It has been a hobby of mine since the DVD days. I get paid once a month so I usually buy 3 or 4 on the 3rd of the month. After I got my Panasonic 50" 3D Plasma it became obvious that standard DVD was not going to cut it anymore!

I've only just started getting into the blu-ray scene. Can you guys recommend any really good ones? The best one I've seen so far was "No country for old men". The clarity of the image and sound in that one was just :O!

Most of Christopher Nolan's movies in bluray are amazing such as the dark knight with the imax sequence and inception :)
Pixar and disney creates the best bluray movies but Rango and Adventures of Tintin are on a whole another level when it comes to animation and bluray :)
Just use google and buy blurays that remastered older movies and not just upscaled them.
Hugo in 3d is amazing :)
Since you are just starting now, there are a lot of good blurays that are about 10-15$ depedning on what you like, I like to use bluray digest and bluray.com for bluray reviews

ive only recently got into bluray as well, so far have about 90 all ripped to my hd and streaming to my tv via media box. I dont have a super crazy tv but it still makes a huge difference. (Its a LG 1080p 120hz 42" LED.)

I typicaly dont get bluray unless I know its going to have a substantial difference such as action/sci-fi and the like. Animated movies as well of course.

Coraline is amazing on bluray. Avatar obviously is awesome as well as 300, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rio, Serenity, The newest Star Trek, Speed Racer (has incredible color), Transformers, Tron Legacy (especially the audio on this one), Watchmen, LOTR extended, and most of the animated movies.

Honorable mentions go to Event Horizon and The 5th Element for being suprisingly awesome on bluray.

Just a side question, for those of you who rip your blurays to your hd, what is your ideal mkv file size? I dont seem to notice a difference after about 8-10 GB so I never rip them and bigger than that but I know some people will just rip them uncomprressed/losless at the full 25-whatever GB which just seems liike a waste to me as I cant tell the difference at all.

Digital media? Oh how gullible of you. Hope you don't ever fall on hard times, or plan on having a garage sale for a little extra cash. Also, no sharing movies with friends and family! Enjoy your illusion of ownership!

My Blu-ray collection is not so epic I blame this mostly on my DVD collection which currently totals around 300 titles alongside having no overwhelming desire to buy Blu-ray editions of stuff I already own on DVD. So far the only title I own on DVD that have also been bought on Blu-ray are the LOTR trilogy and Battle Royale.

If there is a new release I will generally buy the Blu-ray version now over the DVD version, for a while I was buying the triple or double play editions which gave you a Blu-ray and a DVD but have since moved on to buying just Blu-ray versions instead. So my collection of Blu-rays is at around 30 or so.

I am thinking about weather or not to buy the Blu-ray edition of Das Boat (already own the DVD version) but I dunno.

I have recently become more addicted to buying blurays. I have downloaded films for years but there is just something about having the bluray disc in its case stacked on a shelf. They're cool things to have and am gonna keep buying and build a collection. Each time I go to town I find myself coming home with one or two new blurays. You're right in it it being expensive but if you can find pre-owned then the prices can be fairly reasonable.

Never have or will have a garage sale.

As for sharing movies with friends and family, they all have a remote login for my server...

I have a copy of Casino Royale that I got for free when I signed up for PSN back when the PS3 was released. Finally, a lot of years later I'm updating my collection with the LOTR extended edition.

I've got around 570 Blu Rays so far, growing every week (or payday!). I rip them all using MakeMKV to my server in my loft, and watch using XBMC. My rips are all uncompressed, some of the MKV files are huge (Ben Hur, the LOTR movie discs i have merged so it's just one long movie rather than 2 x MKV files each film)

Won't be long before there is a new technology out and we have to start again!

I've got around 20 Blu-ray movies and around 200 DVD's. I haven't really seen a lot to get excited about with Blu-ray. Personally, I see little difference in picture or sound quality between DVD and Blu-ray so, unless the Blu-ray version is on sale (or comes with a DVD) I generally just buy the DVD.

UltraViolet is out....but last time I watched a movie in that format it reminded me of VHS....

Bluray is the way to go when using hdmi or component cables with 1080p hdtv, led or lcd or plasma.
Some movies are lazily up-scaled to 1080p which looks like dvd being upscaled by the bluray player which barely show any difference and is most likely identical. If you got crt, or projection hdtv like that I have which is a feet wide from the back, dvd would look like bluray if upscaled properly to 1080i or 480p.
I have met a lot of people who never buy blurays just because they never even bought a 10-15$ hdmi cable to get the best possible bluray experience. I laugh at the price of new release dvd only movies since the bluray combo pack cost about 5$ more on average. If you seperate a 30$ bluray combo, it should be 15$ bluray disc, 10$ dvd and 5$ digital copy but in the real world, its 20-25$ dvd, 25$ bluray, 20-25$ digital copy.

The bluray drive/player/disks are still too expensive to me, so I'm stuck with DVDs, keeping the old tech's last breath alive.

I love nothing more than watching a blu ray on my 55" TV with 7.2 surround. But sadly there just hasn't been any movies coming out in the last year I've been interested in.

I have about 50 blu rays and I've stopped buying them because most movies that come out aren't even worth watching more than once.

I'm looking forward to getting Prometheus, Snow White and the Hunstman, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray but other than that I can't even think of a movie I want to buy.

I have the star wars, aliens, terminator, transformers series' as well as a few other great movies like Pans Labyrinth and Lost in Translation.
