But when i have both cards plugged into my x99 deluxe motherboard with 5930 shows the one on the top slot @x16 and the 2nd card in slot 3 runs @x8 and even if i put the 2nd card in slot one it still runs @ x8 even if it is installed by it self can anyone give any idea's what would be causing this as even when both cards are in the system they seem to be working ok with no shutdowns or anything ...
yes i have checked via the motherboard and gpuz and both are stating x8 on this one card i have even changed the cards round and they still say the same on the same card even in slot 1 or 3
So it's only that one card that seems stuck @ x8 ? The other card in any slot operates fine @ x16 ? Have you tried flicking the BIOS switch on the x8 GPU ? Just as a test, power off, flick the switch, boot back up and check
Then you should probably RMA the card if it's stuck at x8 on two x16 machines -- How have you got 8GB 290X GPUs when I just found this? AMD will soon be allowing GPU manufacturers to produce 8GB versions of th R9 290X http://www.overclock3d.net/articles/gpu_displays/msi_8gb_r9_290x_pictured/1
Go to uefi bios and manually select all pcie slots to pcie3.0 - gen3 http://images.pugetsystems.com/gall.../Motherboard/Asus-X99-Deluxe-10579/385973.jpg Also to see if its "Linked as x16" by both And check what's up here by 5th pcie slot. http://images.pugetsystems.com/gall.../Motherboard/Asus-X99-Deluxe-10579/385979.jpg
